In 1991 the
City of Kelowna created a structure where-by grants, using City of
Kelowna tax dollars, could be given to those who own buildings on
the Kelowna Heritage Register, in an effort to help them maintain
their heritage properties.
The Central
Okanagan Heritage Society took over the administration of the
program in 2008. Called the City of
Kelowna Heritage Grants
program, the committee
and its manager work with heritage property owners to provide
guidance and grants for the maintenance, rehabilitation and/or
restoration of their heritage buildings.
The
committee reviews grant requests four times in a calendar year.
The grant guidelines and application forms are available on the City
of
Kelowna
website or
through the program manager, Lorri Dauncey at 250-861-7188.
The 2012 Kelowna
Heritage Grants Program application and guideline can also be
downloaded as a PDF
here.
